How to change DNS (Domain Name Servers)
Pointing your DNS to Hostbaby:
("Huh? DNS?") We know this can be a confusing process, so if you'd like us to do it for you, we can! We'd just need the web-address of the place you registered your domain name, then the username and password to get in. We can do the rest. You could also call us at 1-888-448-6369 and we'll be glad to walk you through the process.
If you want to do it yourself, here are the instructions. Changing your DNS just means that you need to log in to wherever you registered your domain name, and look for some kind of a link to "EDIT" or "MAKE CHANGES" to your domain -- and then look for a link to change your "DNS" or "NAMESERVERS".
You'll know you've found it when you see something like "NS1.BLAHBLAH.COM" and "NS2.BLAHBLAH.COM"
Erase what's there and point it to ours:
At this point it might give you warnings that what you're doing is very dangerous, but just click OK - you're doing this on purpose.
If you have ANY trouble with this, feel free to contact us and let us know.
There are a few things to consider before changing your DNS! If you have Email hosted with your current host, those addresses will shut down during your DNS change. We've created a general "check list" of things to watch out for before you change your DNS: DNS_change_Checklist
An IMPORTANT note about your domain name: keep in mind that pointing the nameservers does NOT automatically transfer your domain to HostBaby. So your domain will stay with your current registrar. If you want to actually transfer your domain to HostBaby, so that WE do the renewals for you, we can do that, just let us know. Just keep in mind that if you do NOT transfer the domain registration to HostBaby, then you WILL have to renew your domain yearly with current registrar.
